It has been a very busy term in the school’s art Department and for teachr, Ms Hetherton. The 6th year Art class travelled to Dublin on Thursday 19/11/19 for the Creative Art Engagement Exhibition, which took place in the National Indoor Sports Arena Blanchardstown. Senator Marie Louise O’Donnell was the key note speaker. The students exhibited painted slates in a workshop with local artist Angela Tuite basing their designs on Longford Literary Artists, past and present. The students thoroughly enjoyed their day. This year, we are creating a courtyard space between the art room and the kitchen.
Abby Purd,y 6th year, took part in the annual Cruthu Art Project during the summer. She worked on graffiti art murals, which are on display in Longford town and in the school.
Senior students Lily Hemus and Niamh Kenny, 5th yr, went to Griffith College Dublin on 28/11/19 to partake in a sustainable fashion workshop.
Our annual Christmas Cards are on sale again. Ten students have had their designs chosen to be printed. The packs will be sold in school, in Lus Na Greine and in Granard town. All proceeds go to local charity Lus Na Greine.
Art students have entered a number of art competitions that we are awaiting results of.
