Ring Christmas Bells
Rehearsals are well underway for our Christmas Concert show Ring Christmas Bell’s. It promises to be a great night of festive cheer with music, song and verse from our talented students. We are delighted to welcome back past student Eileen Coyle who is a member of a number of professional groups such as Anúna and Lassus chamber choir. The Lir Brass Quintet will also undoubtedly add to the occasion. It promises to be a great nights entertainment so it is advised to purchase your tickets ASAP. Tickets are on sale from the school office.
Senior Boys Football
On Thursday last the senior boys footballers played Gallen Ferbane in the North Leinster Championship. We have had a fierce rivalry with Ferbane over the years and knew we were in for a tough encounter. As predicted it was a very close battle with little separating the sides. Particularly strong performances from PJ Masterson, Liam Wilson, Jordan Martin and Jordan Shiels ensured Cnoc Mhuire emerged victorious on a scoreline of 1-07 to 0-07. After two victories in the group stages the lads enter their final group game in an excellent position to qualify from the group. Well done to the lads and their coach Mr Carroll.
Parent Teacher Meeting
On Tuesday last we held our first year parent teacher meeting. We would like to thank all the parents for the excellent turnout. This group of students seem to have settled well into life in Cnoc Mhuire and all parents seemed very happy with the reports they received.
Strasbourg Trip
My name is Colm Gilchrist, and last Tuesday myself and 23 other students from across Ireland, met at Dublin airport. We had won a free trip during transition year and were waiting months for this trip. The trip was won through graduate.ie where I had to take part in a quiz, and then picked out of a draw. We were with 3 teachers from Ireland, and our first stop was Brussels. There, we visited MEP Mairead McGuinness, and also explored the city. The next day we got a bus to Strasbourg where we would spend the next two nights. On Thursday we went to the European Parliament in Strasbourg, which was the main reason we were on this trip. We were joined by schools from all countries in the EU. We took part in tasks and activities throughout the day and had our say in current EU topics. On Friday we got a tour of Strasbourg and had time to explore the city. That night we flew home to Ireland and ended a short but great experience.
